What to do

Lettuce wrap filling with prepared ingredients: chopped scallions, finely diced carrots, minced garlic, chopped ginger & scallion whites

Making chicken lettuce wraps

  1. Chop and prep. Dice the 1/2 small onion, chop 2 cloves of garlic, mince 1/2 tbsp ginger, and finely dice all the vegetables

  2. Start the filling. In a skillet, heat up some vegetable oil. Add chopped onions, garlic, and minced ginger to hot oil. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes.

  3. Add & brown the protein. Add ground meat (use crumbled tofu for a vegetarian variation) and mix. Cook for 5 minutes or until well-browned.

  4. Whisk the sauce. Whisk together: 1/4 cup hoisin sauce, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice wine, 1 tbsp sriracha

  5. Finish the filling. Add any diced vegetable, the sauce, and 1/2 cup water or stock to the pan. Lower to medium-low heat and cover. Simmer for 10 min, then remove from heat.

  6. Prepare the lettuce. Individually break lettuce leaves and gently wash them.

  7. Scoop & serve. Scoop the filling into the lettuce leaf. Garnish with chopped scallions, and serve.
